Joey & a Handspring Puppet Company member

The award-winning puppets of War Horse are coming to Salt Lake City on April 22. Before you take in the epic story of Albert and his loyal horse Joey, find out about the makers of the life-size creations. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, the Handspring Puppet Company was founded in 1981 by Adrian Kohler and Basil Jones, who took home a special Tony Award in 2011 for their dazzling War Horse puppetry. In the video below, find out how these designers craft the horses made entirely by hand. Also, check out a time-lapse sequence of one of the puppets being built. War Horse will play the Capitol Theatre through April 27.
